The first two days of this July witnessed the kick-off of the Xiamen Building Pillars Program, the founding ceremony of the Xiamen Alumni Economic Alliance (XAEA), and a summit held for the alliance. Jointly organized by the Municipal Government of Xiamen and Xiamen University, the program, the alliance, and the summit are designed to mobilize resources to satisfy the needs of the city's growth. This will be done by establishing strong links between universities and localities, and between scientific research and industries, so as to support an innovative economy and the future, and contribute to Xiamen's "Lianggao Lianghua" Initiative, an initiative to further beautify, civilize, modernize, and internationalize the city.
